English Testing

Capital College requires an IELTS or equivalent test score of 5.5 for entry into our qualification programs. This ensures your English language capability is at a level of competence to understand the tuition and interact in a way that makes study meaningful and enriching. Our goal is for you to master the knowledge and skills of your chosen qualification.

English Language Training

If you need English language training before taking an English Language Test, we recommend our partner, the Australian International College of Languages (AICOL). They teach English to students who are already in Australia. They can also train you online in your home country before you arrive in Australia.
Like Capital College, AICOL is an Australian Government-registered training provider and can issue a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) for your English study at the same time as Capital College issues a CoE for your vocational study. Some students find this 'double CoE' helps them explain their study goals to the Department of Home Affairs when applying for a student visa from their home country.
When you contact AICOL to arrange online or in-class English tuition, tell them that you intend to study with Capital College after completing with them. They will coordinate our CoEs and take good care of you.

Testing Requirements

If you have already been studying in Australia for at least 2 years immediately before applying to enrol with us, the Australian Government does not require you to provide a current English test result. But if you have not been studying continuously in Australia for the past two years, or if you are applying to enrol from your home country, we require an English language test score that is not more than 2 years old.

Which English test?

We accept any English test that is equivalent to the IELTS standard. Two popular tests are IDP-IELTS and PearsonPTE.

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is one of the world’s most popular English language proficiency tests for study, work, and migration.

The Academic version of IELTS measures English language proficiency needed for an academic, higher learning environment. The tasks and texts are accessible to all test takers, regardless of which subject matter you will study with Capital College.

IDP provide testing and a range of material and resources to help you on your way.

IDP IELTS

When you have your IELTS test score, send the information to our Student Support team and we'll add it to your enrolment application.

You can find your nearest IDP IELTS test centre at https://www.idp.com/australia/ielts/book-my-test-australia/

You will need to register at the Pearson homepage to book the test in a city near you. You can register at Pearson PTE registration form.
